If you know, you know! The first-generation Winnebago Travato 59G is one of the most versatile RV's ever. It's the camper version of a Swiss Army knife, with beds for four, seatbelts for four, a wet bath with shower, and a full kitchen all in a camper van with no pop-up. (The second-generation Travato lost the convertible dining table bed, and only sleeps 2.)

And in a camper van, you get the best of both worlds: You can go everywhere it says "RV's only" and you can also go everywhere it says "no RV's." We've taken it on the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier (maximum vehicle length 22') and parked it in the special RV-only lot right in the heart of St. Augustine, FL (much closer than cars could park).

We converted the RV to all-electric in 2025, and installed a new induction cooktop. And ours may be the only Travato that seats five, with a street-legal seatbelt professionally installed at a restomod shop in Minneapolis.

- The refrigerator runs poorly, and likely needs replacement (est. $1500 - $3500 installed, depending on the refrigerator)
