Are you looking for a fun overlanding RV with garage storage and all the basics for comfortable off-grid living for up to two campers? The 2027 Tiffin GH1 SE could fit the bill nicely. Built on a rugged Mercedes Benz Sprinter 2500 Chassis, this Class B campervan has everything going for it in terms of rugged good looks, powerful overlanding ability, amenities storage for toys, plus much more. There’s a lot to love about this RV, but a few things to be aware of too. Let’s get rolling with this review so I can tell you all about it.
Overall, the 2027 Tiffin Motorhomes GH1 SE promises to be fun to drive (not to mention camp in) on overland adventures. It’s a neat little camper with a lot going for it. It’s definitely an outdoor oriented camper – it even has a portable induction cooktop that you can take outside to your outdoor kitchen area. However, when the weather isn’t agreeable, there’s enough cozy interior space to hang out snacking, reading books, and playing games until inclement weather passes. This campervan includes a flip-up standing desk that could work well for remote workers. The wet bath doesn’t have a sink, but with the added doors, it offers spacious privacy. This is a versatile camper van that can easily be used throughout the year.

Sleeping space at the rear bed is on a comfy motorized dropdown queen bed. Thanks to the pop-out windows, the bed area feels spacious. It has a shelf with USB-A and USB-C ports, as well as a 110V outlet that makes it CPAP-compatible. The rear doors open with a roll-down screen so sleepers can enjoy fresh air while they sleep, perhaps waking up to a beautiful view across a beautiful lake.
The GH1 SE features a spacious wet bath with a compact Thetford cassette toilet and composite doors that create a private sanctuary. The wet bath includes a Nautilus water panel and shower water recirculation system that helps conserve water. Also of note, the toilet paper holder has a splash shield to help keep toilet paper dry. However, I was disappointed to find that Tiffin doesn’t include a sink in this bathroom.
This is an outdoor-lifestyle-oriented RV. With that in mind, it has an armless Girard power awning that extends seamlessly to create a lovely outdoor living space. Just add your favorite camping chairs and you’re ready to relax and take in whatever fantastic views you come upon.
The 2027 Tiffin GH1 SE also comes with a two-person bench seat, with a standing desk that folds out over it; as well as swivel front seats that can create additional indoor seating space as needed. The flip-down standing desk for remote workers is an interesting touch, but I’m not sold on the idea since its height is not adjustable.
The kitchen console in the Tiffin GH1 SE features a fold-out exterior dinette table, a small refrigerator, and a single bowl sink with a gooseneck faucet. A wall-mounted basket keeps spices or other frequently used items at hand. Tiffin includes a portable induction cooktop with the GH1 SE, but surprisingly, there was no convection microwave oven in the model I had access to. Many users will miss this, but the GH1 SE is designed to be compatible with aftermarket parts, so a microwave convection oven could be added. Drawers and cabinets are built with hardwood cabinetry on a powder coated aluminum base.
Overall, the kitchen in the GH1 SE doesn’t go much further than the bare necessities. Those seeking the luxurious amenities that Tiffin is well known for are likely to be disappointed here.
The Tiffin GH1 SE is a fully capable four-season RV. Two-inch wall insulation helps with thermal regulation. Standard Rolof bug screens and blackout shades help with thermal insulation while keeping bugs out and adding privacy. A convenient feature that I wish more RVs had is the Aquahot 125D system that uses a hydronic diesel system to create interior cabin heat in addition to on-demand hot water. A Gree 15,000-BTU air conditioner with heat pump makes the interior cool on hot days but can also help take the chill off cold mornings. Everything is regulated via wall-mounted touchpad thermostats in both the living area and bedroom.
Beneath the cabin of this RV is a protected utility bay, while heating pads keep tanks from freezing.
Cabinet storage in the Tiffin GH1 SE is what you expect from an RV in this category. There isn’t a lot of it, but what there is, is cleverly thought out. Abundant (for a Class B RV) kitchen cabinet storage is augmented by a tall, narrow, yet versatile cabinet featuring adjustable shelves. This could be used as a pantry cabinet, or for storing anything else you need access to on a regular basis.
As previously mentioned, the underbed garage storage area is big enough to store mountain bikes as well as most other sports equipment. It features tie-downs so gear won’t bounce around while you’re driving over gnarly terrain.
There’s also an additional storage area over the cab that’s perfect for storing soft goods like jackets, bedding, and the like.

The cockpit in the Tiffin GH1 SE is a fully featured Mercedes Sprinter cab with bells and whistles that include heated power seats, collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, and a back-up camera. Everything is easy to see and within easy reach for the driver.
Both the driver and the passenger seats are comfortable and have full power adjustment as well as memory settings for different occupants. Also, each seat swivels to add additional seating space to the living area.
The Tiffin GH1 SE is built on a Mercedes-Benz 2500 Sprinter AWD cargo van chassis that boasts a 2.0L four-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged 208-horsepower diesel engine with 332 lb-ft of torque and a shiftable nine-speed automatic transmission. Agile Offroad Fox shocks, 1UP Adventure Wheels with BF Goodrich All Terrain tires, and a front LED light bar conspire to make this a fully capable off-road vehicle

The Tiffin GH1 SE is clearly meant to be enjoyed in faraway off-grid places. It accomplishes this by providing everything you need for the ultimate off-grid experience. Aside from having generous holding tank capacities, especially for a Class B camper van, the Tiffin GH1 SE offers all the power most people need when they’re way off grid. On the roof are 220 watts of solar panels, but just in case that’s not enough, there’s room for a few more. This is backed by an 810-Ah Battle Born lithium battery system and a 3,000W Victron inverter. By the way, the Gree air conditioner/heat pump is designed for off-grid use to make the GH1 a cool oasis in hot weather or a warm and cozy winter refuge.
Without a doubt, the 2027 Tiffin GH1 SE provides a lot of bang for the buck. With that said, there are a few things it could do better – including a small microwave/convection oven for heating up burritos or other quick-and-easy meals, and a separate bathroom sink. With MSRPs from comparable RVs such as the 2027 Gretsch RV Vacanzia-Ion 19AWD starting at about $237,000, the GH1 offers good value at $216,195.

The nimble 2027 GH1 SE has everything necessary to provide a premium overlanding experience for one or two people. A big advantage of a camper van this size is that it can easily serve as a daily driver as well as a weekend adventure-mobile. That makes it a great pick for mountain bike riders wanting to access local trails or hit the race circuit. In winter, the GH1 can also be used as a mobile chalet that’s ready to handle snowy conditions. With that said, this RV is a good choice for anyone wanting to go off-grid in a big way.
