Are you ready for an upgrade from tent camping in a cute but luxurious little travel trailer? At just 16-feet long, the 2026 Grand Design RV Transcend One 131DL offers comfortable, secure, and fuss-free camping in an easy to manage package. This model is a great choice for solos or couples new to RVing. Astonishingly, the Transcend One 131DL is light enough that most mid-sized SUVs or small pickup trucks can tow it easily. Even so, it doesn’t miss any points when it comes to amenities.
Even so, this pint-sized travel trailer feels comfortably spacious inside, owing to an open floorplan and clever use of interior space. Dog owners will love the cool little features like easy-to-clean surfaces, leash hook, and built-in feeding station that keeps food and water dishes out of the way.
Frankly, the Transcend One 131DL packs a lot of features into its small footprint. Ready to find out more? Let’s dive in and take a closer look.
I rated the 2026 Grand Design Transcend One 131DL a 8.2 out of 10. This model packs a lot of value into a travel trailer that will be easy to tow (and back up) with a smaller tow vehicle. It’s a fun little trailer that has everything necessary for weekend adventures on or off-grid. That said, it’s a good choice for state parks, BLM camping, or touring Harvest Hosts overnight winery stays. And, of course, you could also use it anywhere with full hookups easily enough.
There were a few things, however, that I felt were lacking. For example, although it’s prepped for a TV, it doesn’t include one. There’s also no exterior spray port (or rinsing sandy feet or muddy dogs), which is important to have in a trailer of this size. I would also love to have seen hardwood cabinetry, which is more durable, especially in a small space. While the tires on this RV help to keep its price lower, U.S.-made tires would be a more durable option (and possibly cheaper now, in light of tariffs on international goods).
The sleeping area in the Transcend One 131DL is on a surprisingly comfortable full-queen folding mattress that lies on a flip-down sofa. Most people will find this Murphy style bed very easy-to-deploy. One of the best parts about the sleeping space is that there’s lots of walking space to get outside if you need to.
There’s also a large, CPAP-ready shelf on one side. In addition, an overhead shelf could hold storage baskets and/or books. A cabinet on one side of the bed offers four shelves on one side for storing clothing or crafting supplies.
The bathroom at the back of the Transcend One 131DL is small but efficient. It’s big enough to offer a comfortable seating position on the plastic Thetford toilet. The shower is basic but offers plenty of room for anyone under 6 foot 3 inches to shower comfortably. The vanity offers a deep, functional sink as well as plenty of undersink cabinet storage for cleaning supplies. There’s also a small shelf for toiletries and three deep shelves for storing towels, clothing or other necessities. Over the vanity, there’s a big medicine cabinet for storage as well as three more shelves for storing smaller items.
The living area of the Transcend One 131DL is part of an open floorplan. There’s a two seater sofa, with a flip-down console with drink holders. Beneath the sofa, there’s a dedicated storage space for a folding table that can be used inside or outside of the RV. One of the best things about this is that when the table is being used indoors, there’s still plenty of walk-around space to access the door and everything else in the RV.
This camper doesn’t come with a TV, but it’s prepped for a wall mount. With that said, you don’t necessarily need a wall mount here because there’s a spot for a freestanding TV on the counter across from the sofa/Murphy bed.
A nine-foot awning offers additional sheltered living space. This would be a great place to set up an outdoor dining area with the portable folding table and a couple of camping chairs.
The kitchen in the Transcend One 131DL is small but it gets the job done efficiently enough to create meals for one or two. A small, deep sink with a tall, gooseneck faucet makes filling pitchers or tall water bottles fuss free and easy. The small cabinet beneath the sink it a perfect place to store dishwashing necessities. The small thermofoil countertop is just enough to prepare veggies or set dishes for serving.
Cooking amenities consist of a space conscious, two-burner inline gas cooktop with a tempered glass cover. A small microwave below the cooktop would be useful for heating single serving meals or beverages. It’s worth noting that this low placement could make the microwave difficult to access for people with mobility issues.
Over the kitchen area, there’s a shelf with four large storage baskets that could be used to store cookware, tableware or condiments in addition to deep shelving under the counter. I like the idea of being able to take a basket of tableware and condiments to the picnic table.
The Transcend One 131DL is a fully capable four-season RV, owing to its great insulation package and climate control that includes a 13,500-Btu air conditioner and 20,000-Btu gas furnace. This makes it versatile enough to be used for year-round weekend camping.
A robust insulation package with R40 insulation in both the roof and front wall, R9 insulation in the walls and R11 insulation in the floor help with temperature regulation all year long. A heated, enclosed underbelly and heated passthrough storage bay help to maintain a cozy atmosphere on chilly mornings while protecting the plumbing system.
The passthrough storage in the Transcend One 131DL is minimal, but there’s enough room for fishing rods and or a couple of camping chairs. It’s a different story indoors though. Inside, there’s a wealth of storage on shelves and in cabinets surrounding and beneath the sofa and in the kitchen. Grand Design RV has done a good job of creating an impressive amount of storage space throughout this small RV.
The Grand Design RV Transcend One 131DL is a single axle travel trailer that offers a manual tongue jack along with manual scissor-style stabilizer jacks. It’s a fuss-free set up that makes campsite setup simple. With proper maintenance, it will provide many years of service.
For a small travel trailer, the 2026 Transcend One 131DL comes with some pretty big features for camping off-grid. Aside from generous holding tanks, it’s prepped for an impressive solar power setup. While it comes equipped with a 200-watt solar panel, it has quick connect plugs to add another 600 watts of solar panels, if you need more power.
Additionally, it’s prepped for a 30-amp controller as well as a 2,000-watt inverter for operating things like the air conditioner or 110-volt outlets. A solar disconnect switch is conveniently located in the exterior passthrough storage bay, making it easily accessible if you need to turn the solar power on or off.
The build quality of the Transcend One 131DL is impressive, especially for a smaller travel trailer. Little things like tinted windows and motion detector lights in key areas combined with meticulous craftsmanship help make this an RV that’s going to be a pleasure to use for years to come. Dog owners will appreciate pet-friendly features that include a drawer with removable dog bowls, an exterior leash hook, and easy-to-clean, pet-friendly surfaces.
With that said, an outdoor shower is essential, especially if you camp with a dog. Dogs have a knack for having a lot of fun getting muddy and dirty on camping trips. That’s why I was surprised that this otherwise pet-friendly Transcend One 131DL floorplan doesn’t have an outdoor shower or spray port.
The 2026 Grand Design Transcend One 131DL could be near perfect for solos and couples who want a well-made and practical RV at a modest price. This small travel trailer offers big value because it has everything you need to camp comfortably all year round and you don’t necessarily need to trade in the vehicle you love to tow it. The 131DL’s 4 season capability and towability offers the potential of more camping trips at a lower cost. This makes it a great value for those looking for a camper for weekend getaways.
The 2026 Grand Design Transcend One 131DL is an excellent choice for outdoor oriented solos and couples who want to level up their camping experience without breaking the bank. This small trailer could easily be a gateway RV for those who are just dipping their toes into the RV lifestyle.
