For those looking to head south this winter, you just may find yourself wondering: Which are the best Class A diesel pushers for snowbirds? If you plan to be parked somewhere a long time, it’s an important question. After all, whatever you take to warmer climes, you’ll be in all season.
But before you determine which of these Class A diesel pushers is your perfect match in snowbird heaven, don’t forget to ask another all-important question: What kind of snowbird are you? I’ll briefly explain why that’s important — and then we’ll dive straight in and highlight five Class A diesel pushers that should make the shopping list for snowbirds everywhere.
There Are Two Different Species of Snowbird. Which One Are You?
There are two very distinct camps (or species) of snowbirds: Those who make reservations, and those who go really remote. There are a lot of snowbird nests in Florida, Texas, and other warmer places where people flock to in winter to escape subfreezing temperatures, snow, and all the things that go with it. These places are ready with level, flat sites, full hook-ups, and a list of amenities a mile long.
However, there are also thousands of people who head to places like Arizona where Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land is plentiful or even into some hot spots in Mexico. But that can mean camping off-grid. Fortunately, just about all Class A diesel pushers are incredible at off-grid camping and can stay out for extended periods of time.
Our Top Class A Diesel Pushers for Snowbirds
With onboard generators, huge holding tanks, plentiful insulation, and furnace power, almost every modern diesel pusher is up to the task of camping almost anywhere. (Except, you know, where the road becomes more of a trail.) So, as we considered Class A diesel pushers for this list, some of the considerations included large holding tanks. But we also wanted heated tile floors because … well … winter. Also, onboard generators were also a must for this, and, considering that you might actually be in a place where it’s warm, good A/C was also a consideration.
With that in mind, here are a few diesel pushers that might do a great job of being your escape vehicle to leave winter in the rear-view mirror.
Thor Motor Coach Aria 3702
While writing independent RV reviews, some of the Class A models we’ve had a chance to look at can be pretty pricey. And while the MSRP of the Thor Motor Coach Aria 3702 — at $434,850 — isn’t normally a bargain, remind yourself: You’re in the Class A diesel pusher world. In fact, there are even gas-powered Class A models that can be more expensive.
For the money, you still get a lot of good features including an 8,000-watt generator, washer and dryer, and a really well-designed interior with some surprising storage and comfort features. Like many of these models, if you’re out for the day, even if you’re off grid (and have pets left behind), the motorhome can sense that the temps are rising. When it does, it will automatically start the generator to operate the air conditioning system. As you can imagine, this peace-of-mind feature is a hit with pet owners who are RVers.

Entegra Coach Cornerstone 45D
At the top of the Entegra Coach lineup is the Cornerstone. Last year, we got to look at the Cornerstone 45D. With Italian leather upholstery, huge storage, and all the luxury amenities that come with a rig in this price, this was a big hit with our reviewer, Lynne Fedorick.
For off-grid camping, there is 400 watts of solar on the roof, but the 12,500-watt diesel generator is really the off-grid power source. Since you may be gone all winter, or perhaps just living in this full-time, the basement storage is huge and features power sliding drawers. (Because you know you always want what’s “back there.”)

Entegra Coach Aspire 44W
We got to check out two Entegra Coaches recently, including this Aspire 44W. Our reviewer Olivia de Soria described the bedroom in this rig as show-stopping. Indeed, the shower, with two shower heads, and a teak folding bench were hits with her.
Once again, heated tile floors were a big highlight here, but, at the opposite end of the temperature spectrum, the three 15,000-Btu air conditioners also have the ability quell some of the hottest temps. Even the basement storage on this rig is heated, and the insulation on these is first-rate with triple insulation throughout.

Newmar Dutch Star
Newmar makes a number of diesel pushers, but the Dutch Star is a popular choice. With features like dual-pane windows, multiple heat pump air conditioners, radiant heat in the floor, and more, it’s easy to see why. Needless to say, the interior should remain comfortable despite what the weather prediction is.
These models also have the Aqua Miser shower system. So, you maximize the use of water if you happen to be off the grid. On the subject of water, these also incorporate a whole-house water filtration system.
Of course you get a full compliment of safety features and lavish interiors on all of Newmar’s diesel pushers. As for safety features, I like that Newmar offers an emergency escape door in the back. They have also massaged their steering system with some features that help in crosswinds and on tighter turns.

Tiffin Allegro Bus
You almost can’t shop diesel pushers without at least considering a Tiffin. The company has decades of history building high-end motorhomes. Previously, the company had been under the watchful eye of the Tiffin family and is now under the THOR umbrella. Interestingly, they are also responsible for building some Jayco and Entegra Coach motorhomes — also quality motorhome brands.
It might seem intimidating to consider diesel pusher of this size, but the driving experience is actually pretty enjoyable. Not only is there plenty of power but also plenty of on-road safety technologies, including lane assist, traction control, adaptive cruise control, braking assist and more.
