Itasca RVs Information:

Itasca RVs

Itasca RVs are made by Winnebago Industries, making them identical to the Winnebago in terms of price, specifications and content, features, and quality. The only real differences between the two are the interior color palettes and the exterior color schemes. Generally, nearly all Winnebago dealerships offer either the Winnebago or the Itasca, though there are some dealerships that offer both lines. Previous Itasca modelers, such as the Itasca Navion, Spirit, Cambria, Sunstar, and Sunova are now Winnebago models, so you can no longer purchase new Itasca RVs with that brand name.

The Itasca RV line always had a Winnebago equivalent, even though the names were different. The Itasca Ellipse and Ellipse Ultra were the Winnebago Tour and Grand Tour. The Itasca Meridian was the Winnebago Journey. The Itasca Solei was the Winnebago Forza; the Itasca Reyo was the Winnebago Via.

Winnebago Industries, Inc. is based in Forest City, Iowa, and produces a full line of Class A, Class B, Class C motorhomes, along with fifth wheels, travel trailers, transit busses and park models. Winnebago Industries purchased SunnyBrook RV in 2010, allowing them to enter the towable manufacturing market once again. In 2018, they purchased Chris-Craft to expand into motorboat manufacturing.

The company was founded by John K. Hanson in February 1958 in an attempt to revive the local economy. For the first two years, the company was known as Modernistic Industries, before the name was changed to Winnebago, as a nod to the county in Iowa where the business was founded. They produced their first motorhome in 1966. Winnebagos are known for their quality because they go so far as to manufacture their own furniture and other components, such as the "Thermo Panel" (a strong, yet lightweight sidewall) specifically for their travel trailers. Because they were sold at a fraction of the cost of competitors’ models, the brand name became synonymous with motor homes, whether they were Winnebagos or not.
